My garden and studio are ready to welcome you: . Enjoy a narrated walkabout…

Entering the grounds past the planted Garden Lady you might wander through the willow archway. Behind to your left don’t forget to check out my rock-walled Koi pond, then notice the moss covered succulent chair in front of the illuminated ‘Hobbit Abode.’ Look! A small artist just left – her painting still on the easel!

Turn right to a seven-foot lion and a planted blue peacock standing guard near another planted garden lady, Oh my! Then past a fountain in a rowboat, and walls filled with colorful cast cement leaves and decorated miniature fairie houses. Comfortable chairs are available on the patio adorned with sparkling butterflies and colorful cast birds.

Walking past the pergola covered with show-stopping crimson rose blossoms, you will find yourself on a path sparkling with mother-of-pearl, (a legacy from the building’s history as a button factory).

Now you will enter my home and studio featuring more than 150 award winning oil, pastel and watercolor paintings in three separate rooms..

Shauna Shane's FentonRiver Studio and home is an old button factory located in historic Gurleyville, Storrs, CT. She has turned this sunny, open space into a destination garden by designing and building a Rock walled Koi pond nestled inside a perennial cottage garden with garden sculpture everywhere you look.

A fairie landscape in a rowboat, cement cast leaves, all manner of garden art and living garden sculpture attest to the creative spirit that resides here at FentonRiver.

2025 Garden Casting Classes

Leaf Casting Saturdays, May through October (other times can be arranged)

10:00-1:00 Cast Cement Leaf or Hypertufa Forms

Sign up for either Leaf Casting or Building a Hypertufa Container. Classes begin with a full demonstration before we start getting our hands dirty together. Each student will have a finished piece to take home at the end of the class. Fee of $50.00 includes a 3-hour class, all supplies, and a worksheet to take home with all of the information from the class. Children under age 10 need to be supervised by an adult.

Sign up is required as spaces are limited but other times can be arranged by request. Classes are available most Saturday mornings May through October.
